Bringing Both Feet in for Love with Kavita Sarmah | RDID Ep. 103 - Recovery Diaries

Bringing Both Feet in for Love with Kavita Sarmah | RDID Ep. 103

It’s not every day that I get to interview my wife on a podcast but today’s the day! What a truly special gift it was to spend this hour with Kavita Sarmah. After such a long time of being a long-distance (like, 11,000 miles) couple, we’re finally together, married, and sitting in the same recording studio to record this interview. And what did we talk about?

Well, I’ll tell ya.

Obviously, we shared a lot about our relationship and the impact not only of being long-distance, but of being two individuals living with mental health challenges. Maybe other couples in similar situations would agree that both of us having our own struggles is actually often very helpful as the empathy, understanding, and experience often helps us help the other. We spoke about Kay’s upbringing in a chaotic, traumatic home environment and the bold, brave steps she took (including starting therapy) to emancipate herself from her abusive father to create a life that’s nurturing and healthy for herself and her loved ones.

And, speaking of bold and brave; we spoke at length about all a person with C-PTSD and a trauma history must consider, trust, and process in order to make the decision to enter into a lifelong commitment with someone (in this case, that someone is me).

Kavita Sarmah is a brilliant, introspective, and hopeful human being who I know you will enjoy meeting as much as I enjoy loving.

Please like, share, and subscribe to our podcast, and thank you for listening!
