It took a year for me to find the courage to google “bipolar disorder.” On some level I knew I needed professional help, but there were a lot of risks.

Elise Seyfried is the author of five books of essays, and hundreds of freelance articles for publications including HuffPost, The Independent, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Next Avenue and Living Lutheran. Elise has produced This is My Brave (featuring true stories of mental illness and recovery) and she is a “bipolar book” in The Human Library project. She has been a featured speaker and workshop leader on the topic of mental health at dozens of events, most recently at the Women of the ELCA Triennial conference in Des Moines, Iowa. Elise is the mom of five grown kids and Nana to three little grandsons.
